EXP_2 THE ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPTS

Herzog and De Meuron and Walter Gropius

  • Herzog and De Meuron have the "Organic" philosophy, which means building are designed to fit its nature surroundings.
  • Walter Gropius uses the technology as a basis, transform building into a science of precise mathmatical calculation.

Themes : technology

UNSW is a modern, global University. The station reflects this context with the special structure inspired  by the "Organic" philosophy. Considering the large amount of passengers and cars and the width of the street, the design makes cars pass under the station.

This is a conceptual design using technology such as light but strong materiel and precise calculation to support its structure. This design is complicated and can only be built with the help of technology. And it will be a good practice and test of new technology.
